Lotti Restaurant Bar Cafe

IMG_7436_Fotor

My personal highlight: Super fluffy Pancake – probably the best in Zurich

Lotti is located in Kreis 1 just behind Bahnhofstrasse at Werdmühleplatz 3. The place is located ideally for a coffee or lunch between shopping. The ambience is cozy and idyllic. Choose a random table and get into a conversation with your neighbor, the atmosphere is ideal to do so.

Its pancakes made it all the way to my top Zurich brunch dishes. You find a selection of home made cakes, too. A signature dish is their Zurichfladen baken in the wood oven. It’s similar to a pizza but offers creative ingredients as goat cheese, figs and hazelnuts from the Piemont region for example.

Brunch

Their signature dish is the blueberry pancake (only available on Sunday).
Try their typical breakfast plate called “Frühstücksteller”  that comes with croissant, home made stewed apricot sauce , cheese and ham.  Want to discover more brunch places in Zurich? Get them here.

Rio Bar Zurich

rio coffee

My personal highlight: Practically located, great fresh local made lunch and good coffee from roastery Henauer

Rio Bar has a great terrace and is located between the Sihl river at Gessnerallee 17, Zürich. I love to take a coffee here and observe people strolling by. It’s a strategically good located place close to main station and city centre.

At lunch they serve home made local menus that vary daily. I love their meat balls! There is a selection of veggie quiches and appetizers as home made hummus you can choose of, too. Give it a try.

The coffee they serve is from henauer coffee.

ApoTheke Lunch & Coffee

apotheke

My personal highlight: 5 minutes walk from my home and I am at a cozy place where I dive into my writing and loose everything around me. It’s the music and the calm vibes that give me the creative boost here.

At ApoTheke Coffee shop, located at Zürichbergstrasse 17,  Zürich, you get quality coffee from the local brand called Mirò, some of you may know them from their coffee truck based at ETH Polyterasse. Their blends originate from fair trade farmers in Honduras, El Salvador or Brasil that produce organic coffee only. I like the chocolate tasty roast.

Find home made cakes or  a selection of brunch dishes served at Saturdays. The place is close to the university so sometime it’s quite busy for lunch. Get easy snacks as sandwiches, home made soups or salads.

Why I dive into my writing here

The ambience is cozy and stylish, bit vintage. . The place is frequented for apéro time, too.
They have a good wine selection that pairs well with their burgers on the menu. Their playlist is inspiring. That is why I love to stay for a while and dive into my writing.

The place is owned by four friends: Nadine Ledermann, Silvana Spillmann, Simon Dejung und Till Spillmann. The name ApoTheke derives from the fact that a pharmacy (German word for Apotheke) was situated in the house at Zürichbergstrasse years ago before they restructured the location.

Maximilian Cafe

My personal highlight: Henauer Coffee in a stylish ambience and lovely talk with the owner inspiring me about Indonesia, one of my favorite countries in the world

Maximilian is at Westrasse 112 and offers good coffee from the established roaster Henauer. The ambience is very stylish and retro. If you look closer to the design of the bar you see the sun shining in vibrant colors.

I like the fact that you have good space on their comfy sofa to zip your drink. It’s a bit like a living room ambience. They have delicious cocktails in the evening. If you love live music check their events on facebook.

Kafidihei Coffee & Brunch

marshmallow coffee

My personal highlight: Hand made cakes with fruits, super soft and not too sweet – Marshmallow coffee!

For girls cake afternoon and boys Brunch

A very cozy atmosphere makes me feel like at my aunty’s home when I am at this place. The name itself says it, too. Coffee at home. You’re invited to feel like at your own home!

Sabinska and Geraldine put so much creativity in this place. I am not only impressed about the home made cakes and the super soft healthy cereal bread. It’s the love you feel in every little object hanging at the wall, placed at the bar and on the table, the sharks moving and disco lamp lightening the restroom of the boys.

If you are looking for the one and only marshmallow coffee or hot chocolate in town, find them here! I love the nutella Mess!

By the by the way, Kafidihei is famous for it’s delicious brunch, too. They have  a very good quality/price offer.

It’s located in kreis 3, at Zurlindenstrasse 231.
I always find a place here, also if I forget to make a reservation. It’s nice to sit outside, if the weather allows.

Bros Beans & Beats Coffee & Bar

bros beans & beats

My personal highlight: Hot Zopf with Banana and peanut butter

Combining excellent coffee with creative food

Bros Beans & Beats are new in town at Gartenstrasse 24 in Kreis 4/Wiedikon. Beside having nice quality coffee they also have healthy fresh food on their menu. The specialty coffee has a chocolate and nutty flavor of their fifty fifty coffee is roasted locally by Henauer in Höri/ZH.

As a snack try the oriental tabuleh lentil sticks with a tasty zatziki or a fresh swiss ham and parmesan bread with plenty of rucola. All is prepared à la minute for you.

Filter coffee with a fruity flavor

Explore a complete new coffee culture! Try their filter coffee, it smells fruity and super delicious, a new exploration for your tongue. The filter coffee they brew is from the company verticalcoffee roasters. Forget the outdated filter coffee machines used back in the 90s. Today we talk about high class mocca machines. The one Bros Beans & Beats uses is the moccamaster.

The ambience is cozy and peaceful, they have a comfy lounge, too. In the evening the place is nice for a drink. Summer terrace is perfect spot to hang out after work for a cold coffee.

Once there I like to have a chat with the staff, they are relaxed and love to introduce you to their place with plenty of attention.

Milchbar Kappelergasse

milchbar

My personal highlight: Barista like to share their knowledge with you, love to be at the bar and watch them working

This place is in the bank district just behind Bahnhofstrasse at Kappelergasse 16.

When I come here I enjoy sitting at the bar and talk to the barista. I observe how he prepares the coffee for me and get explanations about the variety of coffee flavors they offer.

The perfect spot to stop early in the mornings or Saturday’s for a quick coffee as in Italy!

Milchbar changes its specialty coffee frequently. Ask for Matej! The foam and temperature of the milk are exactly my taste at this place.

The place offers good meals for lunch. The dishes are fresh and seasonal. Their Schober Brunch is famous in town, too.
