Restaurant & Hotel Murtaröl Silsersee

sailing silsersee

Are you traveling in the Engadin Alps of Switzerland and hungry? Maybe in the mood of enjoying fresh sea food up on 1800 m altitude?

For family and romantic couples

The restaurant Murtaröl in Plaun da Lej. It is located at the Lake of Sils in the Engadin Alps. Murtaröl is one of the best seafood places all around the Engadin not far from St. Moritz. You can sail on the lake in the morning, get a fish soup for lunch, take a hike in the afternoon and come back for a great family dinner in the evening with some sea food pasta.

The place is not only famous for the sea food, they have a large selection of fresh fish, shellfish, mussels, oysters and mollusks. You will love it! If you like vongole, the soup will amaze you! The place is also a hotel and has cozy rooms for an overnight. I absolutely recommend it.

Vineria Centrale

vineria centrale

My personal highlight: Wine and aperitivo like in Italy, their passito malvasia delle Lipari is world class

Aperitivo Place

In the mood of an aperitivo Italian Style? There are not many places in Zurich where you can get this. I suggest Vineria centrale. This Winebar is located at Neugasse 42, Zurich. Their selection of wine is excellent.

If you can manage, get there on Thursday’s or Friday’s at 7 pm. You find a variety of of antipasti. This is a typical Italian thing, a food culture let’s say. Italians love being together, eat good food, drink wine and talk about life.

Buy your drink and for a supplement of 2 Swiss Francs , antipasti. Check out their website!

Tapas & Friends Tapas bar

tapas and friends zurich

My personal highlight: I always find some new red Spanish Redwines. I absolutely love their soft and crispy croquetas

Spanish tapas

My favorite tapas bar is in Wiedikon close to Idaplatz at Ämtlerstrasse 86.

The tapas are just delicious.  The tapas I like most are crispy soft fried croquetas or an outstanding avocado tatar. Order some real good Spanish red wine. Or try some of their local Spanish craft beers. So no need traveling to Spain for celebrating a tapas night!
Book Tapas & Friends for a catering or attend one of their cooking classes.

Restaurant Le Cedre

le cedre

My personal highlight: Baba ganoush fresh lots of garlic. Simply tasty.

Lebanese food

If you like to surprise your friends with a funny evening and good Lebanese food, go to this Lebanese place called “le cedre”. The Mezze are authentic and as you know, Lebanese food has a lot to offer for vegetarians, too.

My favorite mezze are the baba ganoush and humus. Baba Ganoush are grilled eggplants prepared with many spices, lots of garlic.

Happy birthday at Le Cedre
Celebrating your birthday at Le cedre can be very fun. You will be spoiled from the team with a nice birthday song and get your own birthday cake. There are two restaurants, one is at Bellevue/Helmhaus the other one is close to Wiedikon at Badenerstrasse.

Pizzeria Corallo

pizzeria corallo

My personal highlight: A real Italian pizza, thin, crunchy and fresh tomato sauce

Pizzeria Italiana simple and authentic

When I go to this place I feel like in Rome or even more south of Italy. The waiter opens the door and welcomes you with a smile and a ciao. The ambience is kitschy, not really stylish but the food is authentic and fresh and reasonable price. I love fresh mushrooms on my pizza and here this is the case. My favorite is the pizza Sardegna, it has prosciutto, mushrooms, grilled peperoni and delicious mozzarella.

The Corallo is a easy place for Saturday’s before heading on to the cinema. Find a big choice for pizza, or other traditional Italian food like pasta or meat. It’s located at Weinbergstrasse 117 in Kreis 6 close to Schaffhauserplatz.

Ristorante Italia

rigatoni salsiccia

My personal highlight: Pasta with salsiccia, it’s like being down at the bottom of the heel

This is a restaurant to eat excellent pasta or typical traditional Italian food from the southern region of Italy. My favorite pasta there is the pasta rigatoni with salsiccia.

In the main sala called “sala rosa” the restaurant has an enomat. Here you can select out of a variety of wines from Italy and Switzerland. It’s kind of fancy to hold your glass under a machine and fill it by yourself. Salute!

Make your own choice. The place is at Zeughausstrasse 61.

Ristorante La Baracca

la baracca zurich

My personal highlight: The antipasti plate cut thin. Simple meat love.

Pizza and pasta from the wood oven

La Baracca is one of the places where you have to go for pizza or pasta. It’s not cliché, it’s the one and only truth. These place offers really good Italian cuisine. They know how to make the food. The pizza for example gets it’s bottom exactly as it should bethin and crispy, not overloaded with ingredients. A tomato sauce tastes like 100% tomato, fresh and fruity and of excellent Italian quality. It is always very busy, make sure you have a reservation.

La baracca is located at Kanzleistrasse 103. An Italian staff will love to give you suggestions on what to eat. Beside Pizza I recommend their amazing antipasti. Fresh salame, prosciutto, regional Italian cheese and mozzarella are super tasty.
