Lucky Dumpling Zurich

My personal highlight: The filling makes the difference! My favorite choice: Hun Dun Soup with hand made dumplings filled with pork, shrimps, ginger & vegetables on a super tasty stock, all Glutamate free

Sunday is the day to have brunch with friends. This time my hungry stomach brings me to Zurich, Kreis 4 in Langstrasse 10. Here I get introduced to a Chinese Brunch at Lucky Dumpling. The manager Angel Liu welcomes us. I let her choose our brunch menu.

What to expect from a Chinese Brunch?

The name says it all, we dive into Chinese food traditions. Please, forget about eggs and ham or croissant and jams. Here we experience a variety of dishes served as Chinese tapas (small served plates). I love the fact that you can share these small plates with your friends and eat you through the brunch menu.

Dumplings in different sizes, shapes and fillings

Get salty and sweet steamed dumplings in different sizes, shapes and ways of preparation.
Find Dumplings or Baos (an other form of a dumpling measuring about 10 cm) filled with vegetables, pork, shrimps spiced up with herbs and a delicious hand made soya sauce. Absolutely recommendable is the Hun Dun Soup. The stock is super tasty, clear and comes with wontons (additional form of dumpling in a triangle shape). It has a pork, shrimp, ginger and vegetable filling I found outstanding.

I love the sweet dumplings, filled with red beans or pumpkin. The fried dumpling with a sesame coat is super delicious, too.

All dumplings are made from scratch and fresh every day. The meat used is from regional suppliers (Zurich Oberland). I absolutely recommend the fresh brewed mint tea that comes with orange juice, too.

Talking to the owner Angel Liu I understand that she takes care about healthy food, it’s her lifestyle, too. That is why all dumplings are Glutamate free at Lucky Dumpling.

Additional tapas on the menu are: Chinese Burger made with a special pita bread bun and a slow cooked beef and pork meat added with fresh herbs and salad. Get an overview of the brunch menu here. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday. The place is recommendable for dinner or lunch, too.

Wesley’s Kitchen

dumplings wesleys

My personal highlight: Wesley’s dumplings are the best in town. Tasty, soft and authentic. Love the ginger touch.

Asia Fusion served as tapas

This is my absolute favorite place to eat dumplings in town. Wesley really knows how to make me happy. You find a good variety of food from Shanghai (hometown of Wesley), Hong Kong and Japan served as Tapas.

You can try bit of everything and share with your friends. I thinks it’s a great concept! This food is made with love. It’s a small restaurant so make sure you reserve a table in advance. It’s located close to Langstrasse at Josefstrasse 48, Zürich.

Singapore I give you a second chance

Discover Singapore also with a low budget – The Lovefoodish experience

I came back here to see a good friend that moved here from Zurich and guess what, this time I got really warm with the city.
My only touristic attraction on the program: The tree walk at Gardens by the bay. The view is unique up there. Entrance is about 28 SGD. It’s very touristy but kind of a must see, you will like it.

My top do do’s in Singapore: Food stalls, arabic district & china town

What Impressed me much are the hawker in the city where you get best and good priced local food. These food stalls are super clean,  the quality and variety of food is amazing. I had super delicious ramen soup and dumplings!
The arabic district and chinatown of course are a must, too. Just by case walking out of little india we found a great fancy shopping street with affordable vintage clothes.

Hipster Food at Timbre+

For foodies I recommend timbre+ a gastro park made in containers with 35 food stalls and live music. Europe, we need one of this, too!. The samurai pizza is a must try! You will have a explosion of flavors, pulled beef meet, caramelized onions, mozzarella cheese, dark deep fried dough, fingerlicking!
Said that. Use uber in Singapore, too. The driver give so much input about places to go and what to do.I experience them as kind of local guides so so lovely!
And yes of course there are several cool food places in shopping centers you can try out, too.
  • I recommend Din Tai Fung in the Paragon Shopping Centre. Really great dumplings.

Areas to stay during your trip:

  • China town or east coast! Nice nightlife with plenty of restaurants.
